Forest Highway Program – FHWA Selects Projects

Unfortunately none of the four projects submitted by our local agencies within the District 3 boundaries were selected.  This is what we received from FHWA:

“Of the 18 projects submitted for funding, the following projects were selected and programmed in the amounts listed for the upcoming years of the Forest Highway Program in California.

· Forest Highway 169/Old Red Bluff Road – 5.4 miles 3R at $3.5 million (FY 2013)
· Forest Highway 112/South Fork Smith River Road –Bridge replacement at $780k + 6.02 million leveraging from CA HBRRP (FY 2015)
· Forest Highway 4/Van Duzen-Peanut – 4.4 miles 4R+bridge replacement at $20.5 million + 8 million contribution from CA SHOPP (FY 2016)
· Forest Highway 89/Rock Creek Road – 9.2 miles 3R at $8.6 million (FY 2017)

The remainder of the projects applications submitted will be retained and added to a list of unmet needs within the program. When the next call projects is conducted (likely in early FY13), projects that were not selected may recomplete by submitting again through the application process.”

About John Hoole

John, as the District Local Assistance Engineer, is responsible for the administration of the Local Assistance Program in District 3, which covers local and regional agencies in eleven Sacramento Valley and Northern Sierra Counties. He supervises a group of 10-12 Engineers and Planners who ensure delivery of State and Federal funds to the locals. His experience in the District includes Design, Project Management, and Programming, and prior to the District he worked as a Transportation Engineer with the Federal Highway Administration.
