We’ve had a number of concerns about Utility Relocations and Certifications over the past couple months, so I wanted to take an opportunity to fill you in on a timeline for potential upcoming changes.
Caltrans is currently working with FHWA to clarify the use of the Short Form (Exhibit 13-A in the LAPM), manhole cover adjustments, pull boxes, utility notifications, City/County-owned utility coordination, and other utility relocation issues.
We will be attending an internal webinar in mid-April that will present the agreements and understandings reached with FHWA, and may provide revised guidance and procedures on utility coordination. As a follow up to the internal webinar, we will then set up a 1-day Utility Training class here in District 3 (Marysville) in May for our local agencies. More info to come on the specifics for that training.
