HSIP Cycle 5/HR3 Cycle 3 Projects Announced!

Now, the fantastic news for District 3!  Out of 31 total applications, we had 1 removed by agency request, 4 were deemed to contain “fatal flaws”, and the remaining 26 projects applications ALL GOT APPROVED!!!  That translates to almost $16 million in federal funds!  Here are our projects:

03-Yuba County-1 Hammonton-Smartsville Rd. from 0.18 mile E of Doolittle Gate Rd. to 2.28 miles E of Doolittle Gate Rd. Widen and pave shoulders, curve correction

On Wednesday, a statewide distribution announcement for the HSIP Cycle 5 and HR3 Cycle 3 results will be released.

Keep in mind that this is not an authorization to begin reimbursed work.  The MPOs will be informed of each project being approved for funding.  Caltrans HQ staff will work with the MPOs to include each project in their next FSTIP Amendment.  Immediately after the FSTIP Amendment has been approved by FHWA, you will be notified of its approval and may then submit a request for authorization (RFA) to begin reimbursable work on the project in accordance with federal-aid project implementation procedures.

About John Hoole

John, as the District Local Assistance Engineer, is responsible for the administration of the Local Assistance Program in District 3, which covers local and regional agencies in eleven Sacramento Valley and Northern Sierra Counties. He supervises a group of 10-12 Engineers and Planners who ensure delivery of State and Federal funds to the locals. His experience in the District includes Design, Project Management, and Programming, and prior to the District he worked as a Transportation Engineer with the Federal Highway Administration.
